ST. LOUIS — Hyatt Centric Downtown St. Louis opened Oct. 15 at 1501 Washington Ave., returning the former Last Hotel property to service under a new brand, according to meetings-industry publication MEET.
Hyatt announced the opening Oct. 19. The 142-room property is the first Hyatt Centric hotel in Missouri, according to the company and Greater St. Louis Inc.
The building dates to 1910 and previously housed the Roberts, Johnson & Rand Shoe Company. Its reuse places hotel rooms, dining and meeting facilities in an existing Washington Avenue landmark near City Museum and America’s Center.
The hotel lists 11,750 square feet of event space across 10 venues. Its restaurant, The Link, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and is intended for both hotel guests and local customers. A rooftop pool and bar are seasonal offerings.
The opening is a concrete addition to downtown’s visitor economy, but the announcement does not establish how much new spending, occupancy or employment the property will generate. Those results will become clearer through operating data.
For residents arranging meetings or visiting the restaurant, the hotel’s own website provides current service information. Seasonal rooftop amenities should not be assumed to operate on the same schedule as the hotel.
The property’s launch also continues the conversion of a building associated with St. Louis’ shoe industry into hospitality use.
