ST. CHARLES, Mo. — Costumed characters, performances and Halloween history return to Historic Main Street this weekend as Legends & Lanterns reaches the final three days of its 2026 festival.
Friday’s programming runs from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday’s final session is noon to 5 p.m., according to Discover St. Charles.
Admission is free, with no tickets or reservations required. The festival brings figures from history, literature and folklore into the historic district through character interactions, shows and exhibits.
Pumpkin Glow coincides with the Friday and Saturday evening programming. Main Street will be closed to vehicle traffic between Boone’s Lick Road and Jefferson Street during Pumpkin Glow, so visitors should plan where to park before entering the district.
The visitor guide lists parking along Riverside Drive and in lots between Main Street and the riverfront. City Hall’s parking garage is free after 3 p.m. on weekdays and throughout Saturday and Sunday.
Organizers describe the festival as suitable for visitors of all ages. Costumes are welcome, provided they allow safe movement and do not suggest the wearer is an official performer.
Programming may change during bad weather, and severe weather or lightning can interrupt activities. Visitors can check the festival’s current information before leaving home.
The tourism center at 230 S. Main St. offers additional festival information.
