Affinia Healthcare will host a Food Access Resource Market Community Resource Fair on Friday, Nov. 6, at its Biddle Street health center.
The event is scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m. at 1717 Biddle St. in St. Louis. Affinia lists the fair as a community event focused on food access and community resources.
The health center has not posted a detailed public list of participating organizations, available food items, eligibility rules or registration requirements on its calendar page. Residents who need a specific service should call Affinia at 314-814-8700 before traveling to confirm what will be available and whether identification, proof of residence or advance registration is needed.
Food access is a health issue because reliable access to nutritious meals affects the prevention and management of diabetes, hypertension and other chronic conditions. Community resource fairs also can help residents identify local assistance programs and connect with health services in one location.
Affinia operates federally qualified health centers across St. Louis and provides family medicine, adult medicine, pediatrics, women’s health, dental care, behavioral health, pharmacy services and vaccination programs. The organization says it serves patients regardless of their ability to pay and offers a sliding fee scale.
