ST. LOUIS — A Pine Lawn man pleaded guilty Friday to a federal firearm charge after admitting he shot at people during a fentanyl transaction in St. Louis, according to federal prosecutors.
Terrance McKinnies, 39, entered the plea Oct. 2 to discharging a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said the incident occurred Dec. 12, 2024, near Cass and Collins avenues. In his plea, McKinnies admitted arranging a fentanyl sale with a group that had previously bought drugs from him.
Prosecutors said another armed man approached a buyer sitting in McKinnies’ car. After a struggle, the buyer ran, and both men fired. McKinnies continued shooting as the group drove away, according to the announcement. Two people were injured.
The new development is the guilty plea, not a new shooting. McKinnies has not yet been sentenced.
Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 13. Prosecutors and his defense lawyer agreed to recommend 10 years in prison, but that recommendation is not a sentence already imposed.
St. Louis police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated.
