ST. LOUIS — A new week can arrive with a long list before you have even decided what matters most. Today, give yourself permission to choose what can wait.
Write down the responsibilities competing for your attention. Then look for one task that does not need an answer, a purchase or a finished result today.
Moving that task to another day is a decision you can make deliberately. Put a realistic date beside it so it has a place to go instead of following you through every other responsibility.
That choice can make room for something more immediate: preparing for an appointment, returning an important call or completing the work you have already promised someone.
If another person is waiting on you, communicate the change. A short, honest explanation gives them something useful to plan around. You do not need to create a complicated excuse.
Be just as clear with yourself. Choose one responsibility to finish and one to defer. Give each a reasonable place on your calendar.
Before the day ends, notice what you completed without adding three more demands to replace it. Let a finished task stay finished.
You can care about your goals and still give them an order. Begin this Monday by deciding what deserves your attention now and what can wait its turn.
