ST. LOUIS — New St. Louis Community College students living in the city or North St. Louis County can apply for a program that covers tuition and books after other eligible financial aid is used.

The STLCC Promise Program is accepting applications for its first group of students, beginning in spring 2027. The college announced the initiative Oct. 13 and says participants will attend its Forest Park or Florissant Valley campuses.

Applicants must meet the college’s admission requirements, demonstrate financial need through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and commit to full-time study and required program activities. Eligibility is limited to first-time college students or new STLCC students with fewer than 30 completed college credits and no degree.

Eligible fields include automotive technology, precision machining, biomedical electronics, accounting and cybersecurity, along with several health professions. The health programs have selective admission requirements; students must complete prerequisite coursework in spring and summer 2027 before beginning those programs full time that fall.

The college and its foundation are providing funding. Support also includes advising, tutoring, career coaching and connections to basic-needs services, transportation assistance and emergency aid.

Students must first apply to STLCC, then submit the separate Promise application. Space is limited. Applicants can review the current eligibility rules on the college’s program page or contact promise@stlcc.edu or 314-539-5770.
