MANCHESTER, Mo. — Residents will have two opportunities next week to ask questions about a proposed drone-delivery service operating from Manchester’s Walmart.
Wing, the Alphabet-owned delivery operator, is scheduled to present to the Board of Aldermen at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at the Manchester Justice Center, 200 Highlands Blvd. Drive. The city says the presentation is informational and that no formal board action or vote will occur at that meeting.
A separate public open house is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at City Hall, 14317 Manchester Road. City officials and Wing representatives will present information, take questions and hear residents’ feedback.
The proposal concerns deliveries of small household purchases from the local store. The city describes aircraft that hover over a delivery location and lower packages by tether instead of landing on customers’ property.
The meetings give residents a chance to ask about proposed operating locations, flight activity, delivery areas and how concerns would be handled before any service begins.
The city’s Oct. 24 notice does not announce an opening date or establish that the operation has received all necessary approvals. Residents should distinguish the upcoming presentations from an authorization to launch. Meeting details and future notices are available on Manchester’s official website.
