FERGUSON — Residents considering a run for Ferguson City Council can pick up candidate petition forms beginning Monday, Nov. 2, ahead of the April 6, 2027, municipal election, according to a city notice posted Wednesday.

The forms will be available from the city clerk during regular office hours. Formal candidate filing does not open until December.

Filing begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, and ends at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2027. Petitions and declarations of candidacy must be submitted to the city clerk at Ferguson City Hall, 110 Church St.

The notice describes a three-year council term and requires a petition signed by at least 50 and no more than 75 registered voters. Candidates must submit the petition with their declaration and a $10 filing fee.

The city says the fee may be returned if a candidate receives at least 5% of the votes in the election. Its notice also says declarations will not be accepted before the opening date or after filing closes.

Prospective candidates can contact City Clerk Carmen Black’s office at 314-524-5152 about the forms and applicable requirements.
