ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Blues assigned defenseman Logan Mailloux to the Springfield Thunderbirds on a conditioning assignment Monday as he works back from right hand surgery.
Mailloux, 23, was injured during the Blues’ final preseason game and underwent surgery Sept. 28, according to a team media update. A conditioning assignment gives a player game and practice work in the American Hockey League while he remains under his NHL contract. The club did not announce a return date for the Blues lineup.
The 6-foot-3 defenseman appeared in 67 games for St. Louis last season, recording five goals and eight assists for 13 points along with 48 penalty minutes. The Belle River, Ontario, native was selected by Montreal with the 31st overall pick in the 2021 NHL draft.
St. Louis acquired Mailloux from the Canadiens on July 1, 2025. His Springfield assignment adds an important step to the rehabilitation process, but it does not by itself establish that he is cleared for NHL game action. The Blues can evaluate his response to contact and game pace before making another roster decision.
The move was announced by the St. Louis Blues and distributed to credentialed media Nov. 2. Roster status and game information should be checked against the team’s official records.
