ST. LOUIS — Residents have a chance Friday to comment on the city’s proposed plan for nearly $20 million in federal community-development and housing investments.
The public hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. at 1520 Market Street, second-floor board room, with a virtual option expected through the city event listing. Written comments on the proposed 2027 Community Development Block Grant and HOME plan are accepted through November 12.
The draft plan recommends funding for affordable housing, home repair, youth services, homelessness programs, economic development, public facilities, infrastructure and vacancy reduction. The recommendations remain proposals until the city completes its legislative and federal submission process.
The plan was introduced to the Board of Aldermen as Board Bill 86. The city’s published timeline places final aldermanic reading during the week of November 6 and submission to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on November 13.
Residents reviewing the plan should distinguish a recommended award from an executed contract. Useful questions include which neighborhoods receive funds, what outcomes recipients must report and how the city will handle projects that miss deadlines.
