ST. LOUIS — Greater St. Louis Inc. and the Small Business Empowerment Center have signed a memorandum of understanding intended to coordinate support for entrepreneurs across the region.

The agreement formalizes an existing working relationship and calls for collaboration in marketing, public relations and business development, the organizations announced Thursday. The Small Business Empowerment Center offers business guidance, financial connections and community resources, while Greater St. Louis Inc. brings a regional economic-development network.

The center, established in 2010, says it has helped launch more than 1,000 businesses. Executive Director Kevin Wilson said the partnership has helped small firms reach capital, address regulatory obstacles and connect with growth opportunities. Those figures and claims come from the organizations’ announcement and were not independently audited by VOTP News STL.

For local owners, the practical test will be whether the MOU produces clearer entry points to financing, procurement and technical assistance. The announcement did not specify a new grant pool, application deadline or dollar amount.

Greater St. Louis Inc. said it is pursuing similar agreements with other regional partners. Entrepreneurs can review available programs through the partnership announcement and confirm eligibility directly with the participating organizations.
