ST. LOUIS — St. Louis CITY SC is headed to the U.S. Open Cup Final for the first time in club history after a 3 to 0 semifinal victory over the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday night.
Sangbin Jeong opened the scoring in the 32nd minute. Simon Becher doubled the lead in the 52nd minute, and Alex Mățan added another goal seven minutes later.
Goalkeeper Roman Bürki and the St. Louis defense held Colorado without a shot on goal in the second half. The victory extended CITY SC’s unbeaten streak to 17 matches across all competitions.
St. Louis will face the Columbus Crew in the championship match Wednesday, October 21. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Central.
CITY SC returns to Major League Soccer play Saturday, September 19, against Toronto FC at Energizer Park.
