ST. LOUIS — Clouds are expected to give way to some sunshine Friday as cooler air settles over the St. Louis area.

The forecast calls for a high near 53 degrees, followed by an overnight low around 34. People heading out early Saturday should plan for a cold start, especially in outlying areas where temperatures can fall faster than in the urban core.

Saturday should remain cool, with intervals of clouds and sun, a high near 51 and a low around 36. Conditions turn milder Sunday under plentiful sunshine, with the high expected to reach about 63 degrees and the low near 40.

The warming trend is forecast to continue Monday, when temperatures could approach 69 degrees. Tuesday is expected to stay sunny with a high near 67.

Residents using space heaters during the cooler nights should keep them on stable surfaces and away from bedding, curtains and other combustible material. Drivers should also watch for patchy frost in sheltered or rural areas during the early morning hours.

Forecast details can change, so travelers and people with outdoor plans should check the latest conditions before leaving. National Weather Service St. Louis provides updated local forecasts and advisories.
